Oxley Creek Water Festival 1998 - Benarrawa Dreaming

The theme for the closing event at the 1998 festival was "Benarrawa Dreaming". The traditional owners of the land believe that to understand the Dreaming you have to experience it, and that the Dreaming is not past but happening here and now. The 1998 festival was intended to be a Dreaming experience for those who attended.

Forces impacting on the creek and possible heroes for the health of the creek were also festival themes. The Spirit Bird from 1997 made another appearance, and the performance was preceded by a lantern parade of children from schools within the catchment, and their families.
